Poetry

Some do it in pursuit of great repute,
attempting metaphor, symbol or trope,
supposing that their audience will be rapt
and beg them for an encore or repeat.

But poetry is also a trap
into which the unwary vainly troop
and their poems can seem somewhat de trop.
Thus poetry begins to fall apart.
